PROTÉGÉ Courses

COMMUNCATION & NETWORKING SKILLS

The ultimate meaning of communication is the response that we get rather than merely conveying the message. We need to frame our message in order to set the common ground for an accurate response to be received – this is the first pre-supposition of META NLP, which is “the map is not the territory”.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”See more” less=”See less”] When the scenario is properly set, we will be able to avoid the pitfall of allowing the recipient “to respond according to their internal maps” another pre-supposition of META NLP The Mehrabian Principle will help us understand communication better. There must be alignment between happy words and happy expressions and vice versa.

Understanding the various personalities who interact with us will tremendously affect the outcome of our communication. Florence Littauer’s personalities will provide that convenience.

Successful communicators enjoy networking and are successful at it. In order to have an effective network, we must develop specific skills which listeners appreciate and we become their point of reference whenever a topic which relates to us is mentioned.

“It is not the quantity of people we know but it is the quality of our network”.

CREATIVE & ANALYTICAL THINKING

Creative and Analytical Thinking seems to be at the end of a very broad thought spectrum. However, they work perfectly well, harnessing one for the effectual benefit of the other. Even art as in Cubism of Picasso and his friends relied on some form of analytical thinking.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”See more” less=”See less”]

Creativity bear witness to the birth of Disney Cartoons from Walt Disney, Apple from Steve Jobs and Microsoft from Bill Gates. The value of these skills today is more sought often than ever before.

When we are able to realize our creative and analytical thinking abilities, we will enhance ourselves in dealing with unusual, rare and often difficult situations – in this way we increase our value in ourselves and to our employers.

These skills are the bedrock of problem solving which inevitably will be valuable in our day-to-day struggles. As these situations vary in form and content, we need this extra dimension to overcome them. When we have honed our skills, we will be alert and ready to deal with them whenever the need arises.

ORGANIZATIONAL ADAPTABILITY

Adaptability bears more intense meaning today than ever before. The survival of the organisation depends on it being able to adapt to cur-rent needs to ensure it achieves its goals and objectives – to be resilient for sustainable development.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”See more” less=”See less”]

The organisation relies on its core resource, the staff. There must be a cogent match between the staff and the organisation. Thus, key is to ensure the staff are aware of the corporate culture and adjust them-selves to ensure they immerse in it. Individual behaviours and traits have to be upended/ upgraded/ made, in order to be part of the organisation. Once this match is in place, smart intelligent work can be smoothly enveloped.

As Organisational Adaptability is the dynamics between several parties of volatile quality, therefore, understanding the intricacies on how it forges forward will need the granular understanding of the various components.

VALUE DRIVEN PROFESSIONAL

Professionals have a code of conduct which binds them to deliver their expertise to the best their training has provided them. Values of the same professionals are those by which they are principled as individuals.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”See more” less=”See less”]

Young professionals are highly technical people and need to be equipped with proper values in order to fit well into the working environment. Being technically and subject matter experts alone do not bode well in the real world. In order to set the matrix right, these young adults must have the necessary underlying qualities and values which distinguish the good from the great.

In order to inculcate these values, the individuals must be aware of the make-up of their personal “eco-system”. In this way, the values will be incorporated and become sustainable. In order to indoctrinate these values, the young people must understand the importance and the returns of these values; which very often are not empirical in nature but more of well-being. In today’s materialistic realm, the fact that well-being does not have a calculation attached to it, makes for a difficult endeavour. Nonetheless, when these values show the intrinsic benefits which enhance and improve lives and in their own ways will contribute to the overall betterment of the professional.

ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY SOCIAL IMPACT

We are responsible for our environment. It is where we enjoy our lives, if we are negligent in its care, not only do we lose, our future generations will suffer too.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”See more” less=”See less”]

The environment is everything around us. The need to plant trees is to ensure photosynthesis takes place, ie the replacement of oxygen in the air and we know we need oxygen to live. That is why the recent fire in the Amazon was an environmental disaster as it affected the “lungs of the earth”. Closer home, we had the haze.

There are innumerable factors which affect the sustainability of the environment which have direct impact on our lives. The sooner we identify them, the better we are at overcoming their effects.

At the United Nations Climate Summit, New York in September 2018, a 15 year old Swedish Greta Thunberg emotionally condemned the world for betraying the future generations for not taking care of the environment, is proof that ALL of us, from any corner of the world, need to be more diligent in our care of the environment.

The health of the environment has a direct impact on our lives, in fact, it is a vicious circle, thus, the better the care we provide it, the better it is for us.
